You don't always have to come down a mountain

Summertime with Alpine Experience!

Also please see Jean Marc’s personal web site for comprehensive information!

Val d’Isere in the summer is a well-kept secret. Val d’Isere and the surrounding area offer world-class walking amongst stunning scenery, waterfalls, and meadows of wild flowers. There is also tennis, parapente, mountain and road biking, rafting, archery, golf, and horse riding. But Alpine Experience also offers various activities elsewhere as well!

Climbing

“To move vertically and beyond, you have to learn to read the rock,
tame your fears and dominate your body. It takes time and patience
but the sensations are there from the beginning and there’s a strong desire to make progress. If you’re tempted to try… the Pyrénées offer an extraordinary playground : technically demanding cliffs, limestone and granite rock faces, Vignemale, Ossau, Néouvielle, Gavarnie, Ordessa, Riglos, Terradets, Montrebeï, Montserrat…Some major sites to visit.” Jean Marc

Canyoning

“Going down a canyon is an explosive cocktail of sensations! During this aquatic journey, the vagaries of the water offer us a succession of waterfalls, boulders and abseils, before calming down between imposing cathedrals of stone… Hats off to Mother Nature!
Sierra de Guara and Mont-Perdu (Spain) South of Gavarnie, magnificent gorges carve through the vast Guara plateau. Between the sculpted rock walls runs crystal clear, turquoise water, bathed in light
and scented with thyme and rosemary…” Jean Marc

Discovering this fantastic landscape, is accessible to everyone !

One day in Guara
After an easy and short walk to join the rio, we put on our neoprene wetsuit.
Then pools and waterfalls follow one another between limestone cliffs.
Some gorges offer just a leisurely aquatic trek, where we can play in the water;

Sometime the water disappear under big blocks : then, the guts of the rio
deliver us a real labyrinth of water, light and rock !

Trekking and hiking 2010

“Exploring a region and culture at walking pace , forgetting our day-to day problems. Taking time to meet people, to share a meal, exchange views on the World. Marvelling at a simple sunset or a sea of cloud….
A strange sort of journey for the traveller who thinks he’s going out to meet people, and ends up exploring his own roots Gavarnie & Ordessa, the Arrazas and Anisclo canyons and the Monte Perdido. Reunion Island, with its cirques and volcanoes. Corsica, with its cape and its traverse.
Chamonix – Zermatt for the 4000 m peaks and their glaciers.
Romania for the Bukovine, its villages and monasteries.
Morocco for Mount Toubkal and M’ Goun.
Mauritania for the desert.” Jean Marc

2010 progarme

25 to 28 of June : a weekend exploring the central Pyrenees.
From one of our favourite base camp, “Les Gerbes” or the Auberge du Cabaliros,
we go out every day to explore a valley, pass or lake.
Easy walking, accessible for all and great food guaranteed.!

3 to 10 of July : Gavarnie & Ordesa ( Pyrenees ).
It’ s certainly the most spectacular massif in the whole chain :
to the North, a cirque plunges 17OO m towards the village of Gavarnie.
On the Spanish side the giant Añisclo and Arrazas canyons.
A long distance walk, overnighting in huts and auberges, requiring a good level of fitness.

21 to 29 of August: The delights of Romania …
No one can resist the charms of the gentle, green hills of Bucovine,
its painted wooden houses and magnificent orthodox monasteries.
Accommodation in family homes; you’ ll be received with simplicity and generosity wherever you go
An easy trip that fills the eyes, the heart and…. stomach! The food is astonishing.

9 to 17 October : Morocco, trek and ascent of Toubkal (4167m).
At the gateway to Marrakech,
we follow mule tracks used by the Berbers.
Our caravan goes through villages of earth houses, then takes us to the summit of Adrar’ n Dern,
the mountain of mountains.
Nights in family homes and in tents, very good Moroccan cuisine.
A long distance walk, requiring a good level of fitness.
