Happy holidays!

I had a lovely day playing golf last Friday at the Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Course with Deborah and Richard Finlay, and Dave Downing. Deborah has been a member there since the early-eighties and she and Richard kindly hosted Dave and I to some great golf and hospitality. We had a tour of the club house, which has been re-built after a devastating fire in 2000 that destroyed some wonderful golf memorabilia, and they’ve done an excellent job rebuilding and replacing the ‘un-replaceable‘. It’s always a treat to play a new course and the Royal Mid-Surrey was designed by JH Taylor, who won the Open five time in the late 1890’s and early 1900’s, giving it some real golf history and character. Thanks very much Deborah and Richard for a fantastic day!

Gill and I are gearing up for our holiday in the Charente-Maritime in a few days time. Millie and Katie are incredible excited and it will be nice to get back (hopefully) to some warm weather again, with beaches and swimming, French bread and markets, some enchanting villages to visit, and especially for Gill, a chance to rest her back. We leave on Katie’s birthday and will start with breakfast and presents on the ferry.

Jean R e-mailed a photo of Val d’Isere after a fresh snowfall and it snowed around 20 cm’s up on the Col. Hopefully it didn’t upset Jean’s golf!

Chris and Suzanne have been busy and have had a few ‘Alpine’ people passing through, with Mike and Julie’s family visiting recently. They are hoping to move back in to the Gite in September when the summer trade dies down as they’ve had some rain during the past couple of weeks and are looking forward to moving out of their tent.

Ray isn’t healing as quickly as he was hoping after his operation in May and isn’t sure if he’ll be able to ski at Christmas. He’s hoping to come out for the social side at least and perhaps try some ‘easy’ skiing. (I’ve never seen Ray do ‘easy’ before) Good luck Ray!

Stay tune for more news soon and keep those bookings rolling in.

Avoiding that blank page!

I thought I’d write a little something as the blank page that comes up at the start of a new month looks a little sad. The summer is rolling by and what a brilliant summer of weather we’ve all enjoyed! Hopefully it will last a little longer as Gill, Millie, Katie and I are looking forward to our holidays in the south-west of France.

Speaking of France, Chris and Suzanne have been very busy with their Gite, both taking care of clients and getting the place fixed up. Unfortunately there has been much more work than anticipated, which has been time consuming. They’ve been living in a tent most of the summer while the Gite has been occupied and will in time convert a little barn so that they have on-site accommodation. Both are well and will be ready for the start of the new season.

TJ is busy in Scotland with the family business, Andreas is busy with his building projects, Jean Marc is developing his photographic opportunities, Henry will be getting married at the end of August, and I haven’t had any news from Olivier, Pietro or Thomas.

The bookings are coming in now so do get in touch when you know your dates.
