Sporting Update!

I hope you’re all having a great summer as the weather has turned nicely for us over the past couple of weeks. And just in time for the second week of Wimbledon, which was absolutely brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the new stars of the women‘s game, and was very impressed by the way the William’s sister were shown the door by the up-and-coming youngsters. It was lovely to see Sharapova back on song, but what a whipping she took in the final by the superb Petra Kvitova. On the Men’s side, my man Roger played great tennis until he came up against Tsonga, Andy Murray stirred up everyone’s belief that he had a chance until he was given another lesson by Nadal, and wasn’t Djokovic incredible as he won his first Wimbledon title by blowing Rafa off the court in the final. His weekend was extra sweet as he took the World Number 1 ranking as well. He deserves it after winning his second Grand Slam of the year while putting together a 48 wins against 1 loss (to Roger) run. During the year so far he has beat Nadal five straight times, all in finals, Roger three times and Murray twice. Chapeau Novak!

The next big sporting event on my calendar is the Open from Sandwich later this month, and all eyes will be on young Rory. Come on young man!

I’m playing with Joy next week in my Club’s Invitational followed by the Seniors Championship the following week, and hopefully my lessons will pay off.

I haven’t heard from anyone lately but we should be receiving some news soon from Henry and Ginnie as their baby is due any day now.
