Off to Canada!

The girls and I are off to Canada tomorrow until August 9th, so don’t worry if emails go unanswered. I’ll get back to you as soon as we return.

New website on the way!

Chris and I had a tutorial yesterday about how to manage our new website. Once we are organised we’ll aim to have the new site launched for mid-October, just in time for the up-coming winter season. Stay tuned!

I was rather proud of the girls today as Katie had a lovely time at her riding lesson in the rain, and when I picked Millie up at the golf course she was standing in the rain without waterproofs practising her putting with an equally dedicated golf pal. Bravo girls!

Well done girls!

We had a great day of sport yesterday as Katie had a test for her Pony Club badges, which she passed with flying colours. She said she enjoyed the scrutiny of the test and is looking forward to the next one. She is absolutely loving her riding and looks really comfortable on a horse. (Better her than me as horses scare me!) Bravo Katie! Meanwhile Millie had her first-ever 18-hole competition at Burr Hill. The greens were lightning quick as the same course is hosting a Senior Men’s qualifier tomorrow for next week’s Senior Open, and Millie did really well although she struggled on the greens. She was playing with strangers who were 15-years-old and after an understandably apprehensive start she played really well and thoroughly enjoyed playing a different course with new people, and she is looking forward to the re-match on September 2nd. Well done Millie! (photos are up)

And of course the Open is shaping up for the best finish ever! I’d be happy with several of a dozen players who are on the leaderboard!

Happy Birthday Millie!

We had a lovely day yesterday for Millie’s 12th birthday. The sun was shining and we had presents in bed, a trip to the golf course, a bike ride into Guildford, a visit from Red Ray, and a BBQ and the rest of the pressies in the evening. It was a fantastic day and the entire family really enjoyed it! I can’t believe she’s twelve already!

Millie has a golf competition this afternoon, which I’ve volunteered to help in, which will take me away from the stress of the Federer match. I’m such a Roger fan that I won’t be able to watch! Come on Roger!

I’ve posted some photos so do have a look.

Happy Birthday John and Mel!

We’ve had a great few days with Millie participating at District Sports in the hurdles, long-jump and relay, and she also played in her first golf competition, where she came third! She’s played with me and in a few team events but this was her first ‘solo’ event, and she dealt with it all really well. Bravo Millie! We also visited Bruce and Sibylla at High Clandon, where the make the finest sparkling wine in Britain and have won international acclaim. They introduced their latest vintage while exhibiting some wonderful local art. We then rounded off the weekend with a visit from Gill’s great friend Catherine and her daughter Clara, who were visiting from France.

We’d like to wish a big Happy Birthday to John Ellis, who also shares a birthday with Mel. I hope you both enjoyed your birthday treats! (I’ve posted some new photos)

July already!

It’s been a great summer of sport so far with Millie and I playing loads of golf, Katie is riding and dancing while Gill has been playing quite a bit of tennis. She won her Club Singles Championship and will have her name on the board again after not playing in it for the past ten years. Millie is also taking tennis lessons, and speaking of tennis it’s great to have Wimbledon on this week.

The girls and I are off to Canada on July 28th before we all go to Val d’Isere for 12-days late-August. So, lots to look forward to and I hope you’re all enjoying your summer as well!

PS I’ve posted a few photos.
