A superb Roger Federer at his majestic best!
09 July 2012
Wow, what a fantastic Wimbledon final! As you all know I’m a massive Federer fan and it was wonderful to watch him roll back the years and play some of the best tennis of his life to knock out the amazing Djokovic, then follow it up with a stunning performance against the brilliant Murray in the final. During the past two-and-a-half years popular opinion was that Federer would never win another Grand Slam and no one ever believed he could regain the World number 1 ranking, but with this victory he accomplished both in what was perhaps his finest hour.
Gill’s Mum Liz was lucky enough to have Centre Court tickets for the final and she said the atmosphere was electric and she was so pleased to have been there. I must admit to feeling a little sorry for Andy Murray, who played terrific tennis for two weeks and who’s improved drastically over the past couple of years, but the poor lad came up against a rejuvenated man who needed to play his best tennis to beat him. Bravo Andy!
We had Millie’s birthday party yesterday before the final and I took 8 of her little pals to the water slides at the Spectrum followed by a BBQ at home and a hour at the park before the parents strategically picked them up at 2 just as Roger and Andy were preparing to start their warm-ups. It was a great party and what a day! (Millie’s birthday is the 11th)
